Bowhunting at Queens Archery

In metropolitan New York City hunting is illegal.

Although the areas  outside the city limits that are designated for the sport of Bowhunting are relatively close, waiting for the specific "hunting season" to arrive can be frustrating for the ardent and impatient bowhunter.

So, with the help of  some simple but innovative technology, Queens Archery has concocted a bowhuting experience that is as close to the real thing as you can get legally.

The 960 sq.ft. "hunting area" consists of  a screen 16 ft. wide by 5 ft. high at the end of a 60 ft. long shooting range. The pictures of a variety of animals are projected in a panorama of shooting opportunities. The bowhunter has the choice of standing, sitting. kneeling or even experiencing shooting from an elevated "tree stand

The hunting leagues at Queens Archery are a weekly anticipated focus of excitement for both the participant and the spectator.
Each Wednesday and Thursday evening starting at 7:00 PM the bowhunters arrive at the range to start warming up. At 8:00 PM the competition begins and the arrows start to fly.
As each animal laden scene is projected onto the screen, the bowhunters take there shot with the same intensity and concentration as if they were in a real hunting scenario.
When the lights come on, the success of their shot becomes apparent and the scores are recorded. At the end of the evening the final scores are tallied and the winning teams receive their points earned for position.
